Design Auditor

AI-assisted review of kitchen design documents with evidence-backed, human-verifiable findings

Design review is careful, slow, reference-heavy work. Design Auditor is an AI-assisted second pass over a commercial kitchen design package: it surfaces potential issues and attaches the supporting reference to each one, so a qualified reviewer can confirm or dismiss the finding in seconds instead of hunting for the citation. It reviews; it does not approve.

Who it's for

Foodservice consultants, designers, and dealer design teams

Lifecycle stage

Design & review

What it's for

  • Review time spent locating the applicable reference rather than making the judgment call
  • Requirements that differ by jurisdiction and get applied from memory
  • Coordination issues that are obvious in hindsight and easy to miss under deadline
  • Findings from software tools that cannot be traced back to a source and therefore cannot be trusted
  • Late-stage rework caused by an issue that was visible in the drawings all along
Capabilities

What it does today

Evidence-backed findings are the focus of the current validation work

Potential findings are intended to retain their supporting reference for review

The review approach is designed for human verification, not automatic approval

Currently in evidence validation — citation quality is being tested before broader use

Not a compliance certification and not a substitute for a licensed professional or an authority having jurisdiction

How it works

The workflow, step by step

  1. Submit the design package

Drawings, schedules, and specifications for the kitchen under review.

  2. Set the jurisdiction

The applicable code edition and authority context are declared up front, because the answer depends on them.

  3. Get findings with their evidence

Each potential issue arrives with the reference that supports it and a pointer to where in the package it appears.

  4. Verify as a human

The reviewer confirms, edits, or rejects every finding. Nothing is treated as settled because software said so.

  5. Keep the verified record

What was reviewed, what was flagged, and what a human decided stays together as a record of the review.

Where it stands — In evidence validation

  • Design Auditor is in evidence validation. Before anything else, we are testing whether the citation attached to each finding is correct and complete.
  • It is AI-assisted and intended to support a qualified professional. It is not a code check, a plan review, or an approval.
  • It does not certify compliance and makes no guarantee that a design will pass review by any authority having jurisdiction.
  • Jurisdictional coverage is limited and stated explicitly during validation. Findings outside a validated jurisdiction are not offered.
  • Every finding is designed to be human-verifiable. If a finding cannot be traced to evidence, we treat that as a defect in the product.

Help us validate the evidence

We are looking for consultants and designers willing to review findings against real packages and tell us where the citations fall short. Join the early-access list if that sounds like a useful hour of your time.
